Knotted Carpets Conservation. Methods Compared To A Restoration Poster

Categoria

CALL FOR PAPERS

For the first time ever a meeting will be held exclusively focused on restoration and conservation of carpets, oriental but not all. The global landscape of the carpet restoration is extremely diverse and heterogeneous: the skilled “restorers” from the middle east, to professional curators of museums; from industrial centers to wash in workshops organized for repairs. The use of commonly used techniques for the conservation of textiles do not always meet the needs of their own carpets and the debate between different operators has resulted in the need for an opportunity to analyze the different operational approaches in order to get to define best methods for the preservation of these very special artifacts. With this workshop we intend to build specialized opportunity for comparison between all actors involved in the conservation of carpets, of all the specific aspects ranging from preliminary investigations to the phases of intervention, from routine maintenance to the exposure and storage criteria. At the conclusion of the work is scheduled a round table which will be incorporated in a poster of the outcomes of the carpet restoration that defines the main guidelines for storage. The workshop is open to all those involved: restorers, conservators, repairers, historians, collectors, scholars, museum professionals, students, the antique market operators and “simple” amateurs.
